The Examination Of Primary School Teachers’ Problem Solving Skills In Terms Of Various Variables

Abstract

The purpose of this research is to study the perceptions of primary school teachers problem-solving skills in terms of the variables gender, marital status, experience, efficacy of work, whether they are happy or unhappy in the work environment, and whether they hold the position they deserve or not. The sample for the research consisted of 211 classroom teachers, 128 of whom were women (60.7%) and 83 whom were men (39.3%), working in the Izmir metropolitan area. The data for the research was collected through The Problem Solving Inventory (PSI), developed by Heppner and Peterson (1982), and The Personal Information Form. The research has discerned that women are more skillful at solving problems. According to the findings of the research, there are significant differences between the sub-dimensions of problem solving skills and the other variables within the scope of the research.
