Abstract
This article examines the ideas which underliethe practical changes and their applications starting from having a school museum to museum pedagogy in Turkish educational history. Moreover, research has been done on the stages of the notion of museums in Turkish educational concepts, approaches of educationalists to the relationship between school museums and education, the stuation of school museums during the Republican period and the point reached in the concept of museum pedagogy in the proceeding periods and practices. The pedagogical functions of museums and school museums and the philosophical attitude underlying these principles have also been dwelt on.
