Abstract
Research studies about art education in primary and secondary education are very limited and most of them are realised depending mainly on the interpretation of the quantitative data. It would, however, be more useful if such research studies could reveal qualitative aspects of the art teaching process in line with the nature of art. Educational Criticism' as a qualitative research method is used to investigate the socio-cultural problems in art education and the professional qualifications of the art teachers in realizing their teaching procedures. Specifically, the stages of the qualitative research such as data collection, content analysis, comparative analysis and writing the research report will be introduced within the domain of the educational criticism method.
