Application of SWOT Analysis in Vocational High Schools Before Strategic Planning

Abstract

The aim of this study is to determine the critical success factors for the school by SWOT analysis prior to strategic planning in vocational high schools. The research was conducted by the survey method. The research data was gathered by means of a questionnaire filled by 28 teachers working in the school, 315 students of this school and their parents. In addition, administrative recordings were used for SWOT analysis together with the interviews with teachers and managers. According to results, it is concluded that teachers, students and parents have low satisfaction in the dimensions of critical success factors that have been determined. Strenghts and weaknesses; opportunities, and threats of the school were detemined according findings and several suggestions were developed.
