Abstract
In this study resistance to the process of learning and teaching among high school students who come from a lower socio- economic level is investigated. The research was conducted in Bursa, a city that has a considerable immigration rate in Turkey, in three schools in the city centre whose students come from lower socio- economical levels. The data was obtained using the Resistance Scale for High School Students (LÖDÖ) and then analyzed using the Kruskal- Wallis and Mann-Whitney U tests. The information acquired shows more frequent resistance for students who have negative attitudes towards teachers, lessons and their homework. When analyzed according to a number of variables, resistance of: students in the social and Turkish- mathematics classes, male students, the students born in Bursa and other regions have been observed to show more frequent resistance than others.
