Abstract
The purpose of this research was to assess BİYEP (Scientist Training Project) and ÖYP (Teaching Training Program) programs based on the views of participants who worked as research assistants in these programs. These programs aim to provide the universities’ needs for research assistants through programs that are called the “Teaching Staff Training Program” (ÖYEP) as a part of “Scientist Training Project” (BİYEP) in Ankara University and “Teaching Training Program” (ÖYP) in Middle East Technical University (METU). In this research, “Scientist Training Project” (BİYEP) was handled as being limited to “Teaching Staff Training Program” (ÖYEP). As a descriptive study aiming to understand the present situation was completed with 217 research assistants working in the Institute of Natural Sciences and the Institute of Social Sciences in Ankara University and METU. The views of the participants about the process of BİYEP/ÖYP were described by analyzing the frequencies and percentages of distribution related to answers given to the questionnaires. Chi-Square Test was used to determine if the participants’ views about BİYEP and ÖYP change meaningfully according to their universities, institutes and sexualities.
