Abstract

Positive and Negative Contributions of Management Profession to School ManagersThe purpose of this study is to define negative and positive contributions of management to school managers based on their own expressions. The research puts forth the positive and negative aspects of management profession and provides directions to prospect managers. Besides, it can be considered a study might help providing the content for managerial training programs. The research was a qualitative study and it employed a phenomenological approach. The negative and positive contributions of school management on managers are considered within two sections. When the opinions of school managers were reviewed, it was seen that positive contributions of management profession to school managers were grouped under four themes. These are a) contributions with respect to knowledge, b) contributions with respect to skill, c) contributions with respect to attitude d) individual or other contributions. It was seen that management provides 46 coded positive contributions under four themes to school managers. And it was also seen that management made 19 coded negative contributions to school managers. The contributions that school managers gained through management can be earned before assignment. In accordance with the results of the research, the professional satisfaction levels of school managers could also be studied.
