Abstract

Poster sessions are considered to be an efficient format for presenting research. This study was undertaken to ascertain whether the use of classroom poster sessions affects student attitudes toward research. The subjects were third year undergraduate students taking Educational Research Methods at the Department of Educational Administration and Planning . The class consisted of 44 students who participated in poster sessions and 34 students who used traditional methods in their research. The data gathered, by attitude towards research scale and poster evaluation form, was analyzed using mean, frequency and percentage. The results indicated that a poster session results in more favorable attitudes towards research than is a traditional writing assignment. Most students apparently enjoyed engaging in a poster session. Also, they said that they could use their creativity in preparing an interesting, informative, well-written and well-designed poster.
