The Interview Technique in Personnel Selection and the Interview Questions That Can Be Used in Teacher Selection

Abstract

The main purpose of this study is to give some information about interview techniques and to identify some interview questions for the teacher selection process. These questions can be used in order to gather useful information about teacher skills such as self explanation, oral communication and general characteristics of candidates. In spite of some disadvantages, the interview method is the most widely used process of screening for employment. When properly developed and conducted by a skilled person, the interview can be extremely worthwhile and act as an integral part of the overall precision screening and selection process. Generally, there are two types of interview that are data gathering processes. The information collected in the preliminary interview is used to determine whether or not the applicant meets minimum qualifications. In this study, interview questions were classified as opening questions, general questions, classroom management, teaching strategies, measuring student performance, curriculum, personal characteristics and closing questions.
