Perceptions of Student Teachers’ Professional Competences Acquired through School Experience

Abstract

School experience (practicum). in schools is the central component of initial teacher education and training both in our country and many other countries. The purpose of the study is to determine the perceptions of student teachers in the Education Faculty, Department of Fine Arts of the universities regarding the competences included in the school experience by the practice schools. The dala for this study was obtained from an inventory including 22 items and developed using Likert-type scales. The population ofthis study is 276 students studying in different universities. Means, variance analysis, and the scheffe test were used to analyze the data. The findings reveal that there are significant differences between the averages of student teachers in the Primary Schools and Anatolian Fine Arts High Schools.
