Abstract

This study aimed to seek students’ definitions of the concept of “happy school”, which is believed to be a happy place for children. This study is a qualitative descriptive study. The study is completed in two secondary schools (Anatolian high schools) in Kahramanmaraş with total of 47 students. The study data were obtained from semi-structured interviews. The study is designed within phenomenology and typical situation sampling is chosen from sampling techniques. Content analysis of qualitative research methods were used to analyze the data. At the end of the study, the definition of happy school and duties of school principal, teachers and students are determined. Certain findings are that teachers and principals should be closer and guide students, be prominent on their areas and students should obey the rules.
